President Begaj visits Warsaw invited by his Polish counterpart: Indicator of excellent cooperation between the countries
During his stay in Warsaw, the President of Albania, Bajram Begaj, held special meetings with the leaders of the two chambers of Polish parliament.
President Begaj was first received by the Speaker Szymon Hołownia, and then by the Speaker of the Senate, Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska.
The talks focused on the relations between Albania and Poland, assessed at an excellent political level, as well as on the need for unification in face of the challenges of the era, and common European values.
The President of the Republic expressed his belief in strengthening the cooperation between the two countries.
Regarding Poland’s support to Albania for EU Integration, President Begaj emphasized that he hopes to promote and accelerate this process when Poland takes the Presidency of the European Council at the beginning of 2025.
Begaj appreciated Poland’s recognition of the state of Kosovo, being one of the first countries, and asked for the full establishment of diplomatic relations in the near future.
In the press conference with his Polish counterpart Duda, President Begaj, among other things said:
“Today I had the pleasure and privilege of being hosted in a cordial and friendly meeting by the Polish President Duda, whom I thank from the bottom of my heart for the warm welcome that was reserved for me and the Albanian delegation.
“As the President of a country that joined the Euro-Atlantic Alliance 15 years ago and emerged from communist isolation 3 decades ago, it is a special pleasure and significant coincidence that my visit takes place in the 20-th anniversary of EU membership and the 35th anniversary of the great democratic change in Poland.
“Today’s meeting is an indication of very good political cooperation between our two countries. I come here today after the successful visit of President Duda to Tirana just a little over a year ago.”
