Former Albanian prime minister remains alone in the cell, journalist says he “asked for a gym”

Former Albanian president, the head of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta was transported to prison 313 in Tirana after his arrest and the detention measure given for the accusations of concealment of assets.

Top Channel’s Anila Hoxha told the program “Breaking” details of Meta’s imprisonment and what happened before he went to the cell.
“Ilir Meta was transported to prison 313, which is located right next to the Special Prosecutor’s Office, SPAK. Until the early hours of this morning, he was kept under observation, and then he was sent to sector B. He was kept under surveillance by psychologists, medical checks were also made. These are procedures carried out against every detained citizen who is held in the observation phase, as soon as the court announces the measure of detention for any possible criminal offense”, said Hoxha.
Hoxha then told of the requests of Meta, who had asked for a gym or a space to carry out sports activities.
“The General Directorate of Prisons decided that Ilir Meta should stay alone in the cell. As sources inform me, Meta has been looking for an environment for sports activities, he has looked for and asked the employees of 313 whether or not there was a gym where he could do sports. This was his first request. It has been confirmed to me that after routine medical visits, it was established that Meta does not suffer from health problems and these data are written in his card.
“In his cell in sector B, they also installed a television, while clothes and food products from abroad were accepted from by members of his family”, said the journalist.
