Village headman is found murdered in the stream after conflict over pastures in southern Albania

Other details have come to light on the murder of 72-year-old Fait Ajdini in the village of Zhapokike Memaliaj, in the south of the country.

The authorities report that the murder is suspected to have been committed in connection with a conflict with the local shepherds, with whom two months ago he clashed over cattle pastures.
The victim was the village headman near the Memaliaj municipality and dealt with the complaints of his fellow villagers, by addressing them to the police structures and the Memaliaj municipality.
Currently the prosecutor’s office of Gjirokastra investigating the case, connects the incident to the duty performed by 72-year-old Faik Ajdini.
The man had not appeared at home for two days while yesterday, the family members filed a complaint with the police of Memaliaj.
At the same time searches were carried out by the family members of Faik Hajdini, who was eventually found dead this morning by a local stream connected to the Vjosa river.
