Former minister is summoned to the Prosecutor’s Office on theft of more than 50 tons of metal in the Policani complex

The former Interior Minister, at the same time the head of the SP in power Parliamentary Group, Bledi Çuçi, has been called to testify at the Prosecutor’s Office as a person in the know regarding the theft of a significant amount of metals at the former Polican Mechanical Combine.

Çuçi has been identified in conversations on the matter with the head of the Poliçan Mechanical Plant Erion Zylyftari, who was also the head of the SP in Poliçan.
The former minister received the summons at his apartment in the capital Tirana and must appear at the Berat prosecutor’s office.
It is about over 50 tons of metal in the former Armaments Production Plant in Poliçan in central Albania, where a significant financial damage was caused, say sources from the prosecution. The officials add that “audits have been made about the economic damage and the Ministry of Defense has been informed about it”.
Since the file also includes the names of senior officials, depending on the investigations, a decision will be made as to whether or not it will be transferred to the SPAK special prosecution. It all started at the end of December 2020 when the combine was closed, as the authorities had launched an in-depth investigation into the disappearance of about 50 tons of brass.
