DP opposition requires investigative commission on Albanian toxic substances towards Thailand, Berisha: We must find out who is behind this business

A shipment from the Albanian Port of Durrës alerted the authorities in Thailand a few days ago, as according to the “Basel Action Network” organization that tracks the trade in toxic waste, it is filled with dangerous dust from steel furnace filters.

As “bloomberg.com” reports, the ship of the Maersk shipping line was scheduled to dock in Cape Town, South Africa, but after the warning, its docking was disallowed.
Today, the chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, said that he wants an investigative commission with the presence of the international bodies OSCE and NATO, to investigate this issue.
“This export, which the Albanian authorities claim that they did not authorize, proves the complete and total insecurity of this country and its ports. It proves that just like 100 containers of toxic substances are exported, dozens, hundreds of containers of drugs, poisons, toxic substances are imported, which are said to come to Albania to be deactivated and buried. So there is a rumor that Edi Rama continues his business with chemical and poisonous substances, that such substances are deactivated or buried in the country’s tunnels”.
“The Democratic Party calls on the UN, calls on NATO and the OSCE in a separate or joint commission of inquiry to thoroughly investigate the affair of 100 containers of toxic substances exported from Albania. Their content should be disclosed and those behind it,” said Berisha.
