‘Businessman’ threatens journalists for report on teacher wife with forged qualifications

The investigative show Fiks Fare has previously brought about a scandal in the education system in Kavaja in central Albania, where 14 teachers convicted of forging their qualifications, continued to teach in schools.

One of them has now become a school principal, who, although suspended, continues to work at the school while her businessman husband threatens journalists and the lawyer of the Kavaja Administrative Court.
Irma Xeka, former principal of the 9-year school “Qamil Xhani” in Kavajë, has filed a complaint with the Durrës Prosecutor’s Office against the former principal of the 9-year school, alleging that there were fictitious students in the school’s records who were being cared by teachers, while the students were abroad, according to the TIMS data system.
Ms. Xheka’s complaint was proven by the prosecutor’s office, and 13 school teachers were taken as defendants.
The teachers, by decision of the Court of First Instance of Durrës, have all been found guilty of falsifying school records and abuse of office.
But 13 convicted teachers continue to work normally, and one of them has become a principal.
The latter refuses to meet the journalists, but notifies her husband, who comes and confronts them at the school door.
The husband of the school principal in a threatening tone tells the journalists not to show his wife on TV because he is a businessman. He also uses the same language with the lawyer of the Kavajë Education Office, to whom he tells her that ‘he will deal with everyone who made the decision about his wife’.
Meanwhile, the lawyer of the Kavajë Education Office says that a new principal should be appointed so that the teachers can be removed, because the principal has been suspended by this court decision.
