Albanian ‘genius’ of mathematics successfully completes studies in Scotland but returns to contribute to his homeland
7 years ago, Top Channel brought the story of the young man who was known as the ‘mathematical genius’ Rei Dunja, then a 15-year-old with big dreams.
Today Rei, 22 years old, returns to Albania to realize his dreams. He was educated at one of the best universities in the world, receiving honors and gold medals.
“I was able to study at the University of Edinburgh for three years and after completing my studies I currently work as a consultant in a British company that is dealing with the development of smart transformers in the electrical network. Something that made me proud is the fact that at the University of Edinburgh, which is one of the most prestigious universities in the world, in addition to the maximum results provided by the British system, I also managed to get one medal out of three that the university gives to its students,” says Dunja.
Although employed in Edinburgh in a prestigious company, Rei decided to return to Albania, not only out of the desire to contribute to his country, but also as a sign of gratitude to all those who contributed for his education abroad.
“The main goal was to contribute to my decision as I have represented Albania in various Olympics, I have raised the Albanian flag in these Olympics, but I am also coming as a result of a contribution from the entire Albanian society,” adds Dunja.
Once with dreams, today with projects, the 22-year-old wants to develop his project in the field of electricity, an ambitious project aimed at reducing the loss of networks.
“I have an idea to contribute to the energy sector here in Albania. This project does not need a large financial investment but the results can be very satisfactory”, concludes Dunja.
As he got to know the world, the 22-year-old from Elbasan thinks that Albanian universities enjoy all the prestige, just like international universities, as even in important competitions our students have achieved high results.
