43 fires put out in the last 24 hours in Albania, fire engines and aerial vehicles continue to fight the flames in other areas
During the last 24 hours in Albania, firefighters have extinguish 43 fires, out of 48 that were lit.
655 operational forces and 63 vehicles were engaged in the operations, of which 109 were military troops and 13 vehicles, 4 firefighting vehicles and the Cougar helicopter of the Air Force.
The fires have been extinguished in the northern districts of Kukës, Dibër, Shkodër, Lezhë, as well as in Durrës, Tirana, Fier, Vlorë and Gjirokastër in the south.
The Ministry of Defense reports that work is currently being done in the village of Surroj, Kukës municipality, where the fire has been active for days in a forest area. 39 forces from the local structures and 17 effectives from the Armed Forces have been engaged in the field. The situation is reported to be stabilizing.
In the village of Tetaj, municipality of Tropoja in the north of the country, 13 forces from the local structures of the municipality of Tropoja were engaged in the field. The situation is normalized, there is no danger to housing units.
In Baqel village, Blinisht administrative unit. The fire developed on a surface with low vegetation and shrubbery. Due to the intensity of the wind, the fire has grown in size, spreading over a large area that has included the villages of Baqel and Kraja of the administrative unit Blinisht, of the administrative unit Dajç. The fire is contained and is being monitored for possible reactivation.
